Description

This statue, created by artist Randall Nelson (commissioned in 1996), is one of eight that sit atop flagpoles surrounding the Connecticut Old State House in Hartford. Captain Wadsworth is said to have confiscated and hidden the state charter from the British in a large oak tree, which eventually became known as the Charter Oak.
